Chongqing by night
Lit-up stilt houses, two rivers and towers stacked on the hills. The city is at its best after dark.
Chongqing is built on hills where the Yangtze and Jialing rivers meet, so the night view changes at every turn.
Places we like
- Hongyadong. Buildings on stilts stacked up the riverbank, lit in gold every evening.
- Yangtze River Cableway. A short cable car ride across the river, with the city on both sides.
- A night river cruise. Boats leave from near Chaotianmen, where the two rivers join.
Suggested itinerary
- Early eveningDinner, then Hongyadong as the lights come on.
- LaterA night cruise or the cableway, then back to the hotel.
Good to know
Hongyadong gets very busy at weekends and on public holidays. We can suggest quieter viewpoints and times, and arrange a car so you're not climbing stairs after treatment.
